Hello =)
No pictures today- we'll have bunch later though.
After leaving Ten Sleep Monday morning we drove to Yellowstone National Park. We got a campsite there in time for supper and had a campfire that night. Yellowstone was really pretty but we weren't too impressed... there were a lot of people and we didn't see as much wildlife as we hoped.
Monday night we walked to a beautiful lake near our campsite and at our campfire we heard an elk bugling. What an amazing sound! The stars were lovely in Yellowstone. It was so cold! We got out all our blankets and layered up- it was good practice for the cold nights at elk camp.
Tuesday morning we packed out and drove to Old Faithful. We walked up as it was spouting and didn't feel like waiting for it again. The hot springs were really neat... but all the people made it feel more like a walk in New York City than a stroll in the wild. =)
We pulled off from the road to make lunch and carried it a little ways into the woods for a picnic. A huge bull buffalo was grazing about 150 yards from us. Aubrie prayed for our meal and prayed that the buffalo would not come to close and charge us. It didn't. =)
We were happy to finally see some elk along the road. There were about 10 cars parked there with camera clad tourists spilling out so we didn't stop.
After that we drove out of Wyoming and out of Yellowstone and into the mountains of Montana. We spent the night at an old KOA campground in Three Forks. It has tall shade trees, a nice playground that the little ones love and wild black rabbits hopping around.
Right now we are getting ready for a day of driving. Prayers appreciated as we truck up to Glacier!
Haha! The "spouting" Old Faithful and the buffalo that didn't charge made me laugh much. :) Yeah, Old Faithful/Yellowstone was very so-so for us too! Oooo! Yay for heading to Glacier next!
ReplyDeletePraying for ya'll lots! :)

Sounds like fun...
ReplyDeleteHearing an elk bugle is one of the most amazing sounds in the world! (I think) =)
