Dad's Elk!!!

Well here it is! Dad's elk!

In our camp of 15 hunters we only got 2 elk but Dad was fortunate enough to harvest one of them! It was a nice medium sized cow elk and although it wasn't a bull it was a welcomed result after a solid week of hunting! Dad made a good shot from 30 yards away and the elk was only on its feet for a few seconds! Unfortunately in the bustle of getting such a huge animal out of the woods and onto the meat pole we didn't get any pictures of Dad posing with the elk but Mom did manage to take a few pictures of the process of skinning and quartering it.

There it is! Not a pretty picture but it shows it how it was :)

Starting the skinning in the truck!

And up onto the meat pole! Definitely a group effort!

                                                                            Skinning

And there it was! It was really pretty awesome to actually get one of these elusive animals! The following Monday we butchered up our animals and Dad's elk gave over 180 pounds of lean meat!
